PeachMor I'm A Flirt, PT, NA, NAJ

With Helen’s husband, Sandy

By Helen Ackley

One day in 2002 I just said to Cathy Caruso, "If you ever have a tri girl puppy, let me know". I really wasn't serious but Cathy NEVER forgets anything. So of course a few months later, a litter was on its way and Cathy told me there was a chance for a tri girl. Next thing you know, Cathy was calling because the first pup born was a tri girl. Then she called when the pup opened its eyes. I asked, "what is she doing now" and Cathy told me that she was batting her eyes. So I decided if this pup was for me, we would name her "Flirt". After several weeks of phone calls about Flirt's development, it was decided that Sandy(my husband, my daughter Annie and I would meet Flirt at a herding clinic in Sussex county. All the way up - the entire 2 hours - my husband could only say, "I don't care how cute she is, we are NOT getting a puppy."

Cathy, in her wisdom, took Flirt out while I was herding sheep with Duffy and placed her in my husband's lap. When I finished my turn with the sheep, my husband said "look at our new puppy - I love her - and Flirt is the perfect name".

So even though I hadn't met her yet, Flirt became our new baby.
