SAYRE TOVEN MYSTY OVER EWE CD RN NA NAJ CGC RL2
(AM/ Can Ch Toven Wintertide x Sayre Toven Dreaming of Ewe)
From Mysty
Although I'd much rather be outside playing agility, rally or even obedience, my Mom, Karen Newquist, said I had to sit down and help her with the newsletter. Hmmmm, guess when you're a sheltie there is nothing that you won't get asked to do.....
Mom and Dad call me Mysty, AKC calls me Sayre Toven Mysty over Ewe. In the morning of my first full day in Flanders, Mom took me out for a puppy walk when it was really foggy and damp. I did what I was supposed to do and returned to the house covered in droplets of water. When Dad asked if I had a name yet, Mom responded with “I think I'll call her Mysty. She's a little blue girl covered in the morning mist. It just feels right.”
When I arrived here, my canine family warned me that I had some big shoes to fill. It was quite apparent to me that they also were in desperate need of an alpha girl. It seems that my predecessor, Kelsey, had kept things running smoothly and kept everyone in line. Nobody had stepped to the plate after Kelsey passed over the Rainbow Bridge, that is until I came along. Halo taught me the ropes about how to get around Mom and Bailey 'let' me pull his tail. The aussie Taylor? Well he taught me how to body slam as if I were an aussie extraordinaire. In exchange for all the love and guidance from my canine siblings, I assumed responsibility for keeping everyone's ears clean and helped Taylor with the huge job of protecting the house, answering the phone and keeping the vacuum cleaner at bay.
I was told that if I wanted to be part of the team, I would have to spend time in the car, play lots of puppy games and go to dog shows. Boy, were they ever right. At the tender age of 17 months I was in the Rally ring and earned my first title. Before I was 2, I earned another Rally title and 2 agility titles with legs on even more. And so goes my life, playing, training and competing. Life was going along smoothly until my sister decided to bring 4 puppies into the world. One, of course, needed to come here to live. Enter Kismet. I've raised this boy as if he were my own, and consider him a work in progress; after all, he hasn't even gone to dog school yet. What a slouch!
OK Mom, I did my job so now we can do weave poles and? Cross behinds? Dumbbells and maybe lots of cheese? I'll even do some Open obedience drills if you’ll take back the key board!
And now back to Mom:
Many thanks to Toni Mapes, Karen Hoffman and Bernadette Olsson, each of whom played a special part in bringing this wonderful and powerful little blue girl into our lives. From the moment she came into our lives, her mantra has been "Let the good times roll!" and boy have they ever!
